Awarded a full scholarship as an exchange student to Elbert Covell College of the University of The Pacific, in California, Icelyn Cate earned a double degree (Bachelor of Arts in Inter-American Studies and a Licenciada in Business Administration). This exchange program was endorsed through the ambitious insight of the late US President John F. Kennedy Jr. to foster collaboration of inter–Americanism. A lifelong learner, Icelyn Cate earned a Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University in 2016. Her thesis, Bahamia House, is a literary repository to help preserve her island nation’s culture as a teachable model for understanding differences.
